I think the main inspiration for becoming a nurse comes from an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I’m also someone who loves challenges and continued learning opportunities.
Now known as The Centre for Mental Health Learning Victoria (CMHL) is the central agency for public mental health workforce development in Victoria. Proving intensive training workshops for skill development in mental health graduate nurses.
I continued my mental health training via a post graduate degree mostly due to job satisfaction and knowing I can make a difference by support people experiencing mental health problems and their families, at an advanced level.
One of the best decisions I have ever made is to continue my mental health studies and complete a Master’s in the field of nursing I have so much passion for. I have expanded my knowledge and skills in mental health practice and leadership through evidence-based knowledge and practice.
I started blogging to support a wider range of people who may be struggling with a mental illness. There has been plenty of benefits to blogging including learning more about myself and connecting with new people.

My Clinical Experience

In my early years I have worked as a general nurse in emergency department and surgical wards & began my nursing career over 12 years ago in private aged care.

I enjoy working with people who have a mental illness, every person experiences their mental illness differently.

It is a personal journey to recover and/or a journey of acceptance of a new normal.

Living with a mental Illness is a roller coaster ride of trying to manage everyday life. It is exhausting, painful, both physically and mentally. You are locked in a constant battle with your own thoughts, and it can feel very lonely sometimes.

I’m also a dedicated blogger and mental health advocate. Raised in country Victoria, I’m a divorced mother of four children, two of which are adults. I moved to Central Queensland four years ago and enjoy living on of the most beautiful places in the world.
